Vulnerability has been a rare commodity in rap music. One of the artists who has done the most to challenge that notion is Loyle Carner. Seemingly unafraid of topics most of his peers wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole, he dives into subjects like his dyslexia, identity, ADHD, and absent father with laser precision. The result has not only been a devoted fanbase, to say the least, but also nominations and wins at prestigious events like the Mercury Prize, Brit Awards, and NME Awards – along with euphoric reviews. On June 20, Loyle Carner will release his new album hopefully !, and on October 7, he’s coming to Sweden for a show at Annexet in Stockholm.

Loyle Carner’s big breakthrough may have come with his second album Not Waving, But Drowning, featuring tracks like Ottolenghi, but it was when he stripped everything down and hit the emotional core with 2022’s hugo that he truly emerged as one of the most relevant voices of our time. An album he chose to reinterpret last year at the Royal Albert Hall. That concert became a record already being hailed as the greatest live hip-hop album of all time. On October 7, Loyle Carner comes to Annexet in Stockholm.
