Dean Lewis is not alone in looking inward to explore a heartbroken, lost soul, but few have the voice to convey it with the same compelling conviction. The Australian singer-songwriter is blessed with vocal cords that most of his peers would sell their right arm for. Alternately powerful and tremblingly vulnerable, his singing elevates the often stripped-down, acoustic productions to heavenly heights. And Lewis, who received his musical education by studying everything the Gallagher brothers did with Oasis in the 90s, knows the value of having songs that hold up in their simplest form.
Lewis' breakthrough was immediate, and given the songs on his debut album ‘A Place We Knew’ from 2019, it’s hard to imagine any other outcome. ‘Waves’, ‘Half A Man’, ‘7 Minutes’ and of course the painfully candid ‘Be Alright’ (which today has 1.7 billion streams on Spotify alone!) are just a few of them. On his follow-up ‘The Hardest Love’ from 2022, he continued his balancing act of making honest, authentic songs without losing his rare ability to entertain and connect. This October, the long-awaited third album 'The Epilogue' will be released, and listening to the three singles already shared doesn’t make the wait any easier to handle.
